My dream is to work in the field of public relations/strategic communications. I think I could work well in a variety of industries, but my goal is to work for a large non-profit, specifically in mental health awareness. I also have considered a job possibly working for a collegiate sports teams or something related to politics. This is an interesting field to go into because of the social media boom and there is still so much debate surrounding the most effective ways to use it. I believe I would be very successful I specializing in social media because I already have so much experience with it and I can bring a lot of new ideas to the table.
I plan on majoring in public relations, while taking courses surrounding media studies and public interest communications. I also want to take some classes about psychology because knowing how your audience will react is an important part of strategic communication. There are many internships out there for this field, so I plan on picking a college that is in or close to a big city where the opportunities will be abundant. One day, perhaps I will have enough experience to have my own PR and work with a variety of organizations in my area.
